Food for Thought report (March 2026)

Food for Thought Monthly Update
March marked a transition month for many of our Food for Thought partner schools. With school holidays underway, several schools paused regular activities while others focused on establishing new projects and preparing for their first harvests. Despite the quieter month, schools produced 227.9 kg of food. 78.1 kg supported school meals and student activities, while 149.8 kg was sold, generating more than ฿9,300 to help sustain future harvests. Students also contributed 269 hours maintaining mushroom houses, gardens, and school farms.
Ban Huay Som (Chiang Mai) had another productive month, harvesting mushrooms and using 43 bunches of bananas as rewards for outstanding students. Ban Punoi (Sam Roi Yot) continued its strong mushroom production with 44 kg harvested, while Kiew Lae Luang (Chiang Mai) generated income through egg production to support ongoing care for its hens.
Several schools were on term break, while newer projects at Wat U-Meng (Chiang Mai), Muang Phi Nong (Chiang Mai), and Thung Sieo (Chiang Mai) spent the month preparing for their first harvests. Other schools continued caring for crops despite challenges such as plant disease and seasonal growing conditions.
As schools return for the new term, many of these projects will begin their next stage of growth.
