Food for Thought Monthly Update

February was another productive month across our Food for Thought partner schools. While some schools continued harvesting mushrooms and vegetables, others focused on maintaining their gardens and preparing for the next growing season. Together, schools produced 387.7 kg of food. 111.1 kg supported school meals and student activities, while 270 kg was sold to generate over ฿15,600 for future project costs. Students also contributed 331 hours caring for mushroom houses, gardens, and school farms.

This month, Ban Huay Som (Chiang Mai) led the way with 100.9 kg of produce, including mushrooms, leafy greens, and bananas that were used as rewards for outstanding students. Wat Huay Kaew (Chiang Mai) continued another successful month with 49 kg of mushrooms and vegetables, while Ban Punoi (Sam Roi Yot) harvested 47 kg of mushrooms, generating more than ฿3,400 for future project needs.

Not every school harvested in February. Several were waiting for new projects to begin, while others were preparing crops or transitioning between growing cycles. This is a normal part of sustainable agriculture.

Every school's journey looks a little different, but they all share the same goal: creating projects that benefit both students and their wider communities. It's encouraging to see these partnerships continue to grow.
