Food for Thought Monthly Update

The new year began with a strong start across our Food for Thought partner schools. January highlighted the continued growth of projects established throughout the previous year. Across all partner schools, students produced 401.7 kg of food, with 96.7 kg used to support school meals and 305 kg sold to generate over ฿20,000 for reinvestment into future harvests. Students also contributed an impressive 414.5 hours maintaining gardens, mushroom houses, and school farms, keeping these projects thriving.

Several schools celebrated particularly successful harvests this month. Wat Huay Kaew School (Chiang Mai) harvested 107.9 kg of mushrooms and vegetables, while Ban Punoi School (Sam Roi Yot) produced 88.5 kg of mushrooms, generating more than ฿6,000 in sales for future project needs. Ban Bang Pu School (Sam Roi Yot) also recorded a strong 70 kg mushroom harvest, with proceeds helping purchase supplies for future sales..

Alongside these successes, many schools continued preparing new crops and caring for projects that were still maturing. Sustainable agriculture is rarely uniform, with each school progressing at its own pace depending on seasonal conditions and local needs. These quieter months are an important part of sustainable farming and help prepare for future harvests.

As we begin 2026, it's encouraging to see schools continuing to build on the foundations established over previous years.
