Food for Thought Monthly Update

As 2025 came to a close, December reflected just how much our partner schools had accomplished throughout the year. Across Thailand, this month saw several outstanding harvests. Ban Ruam Thai School (Kui Buri) produced 80.5 kg of mushrooms, generating ฿3,710 to reinvest back into their school and project, while Wat Huay Kaew (Chiang Mai) harvested 58.7 kg of mushrooms. At Kiew Lae Luang School (Chiang Mai), students collected 530 eggs, with many supporting school meals and the remainder helping generate income for future supplies.

Beyond the harvests, students contributed approximately 277 hours maintaining mushroom houses, tending crops, caring for livestock, and developing practical agricultural skills. Together, schools produced more than 225 kg of mushrooms, alongside vegetables, fruit, and eggs that supported both nutrition and project sustainability.

One of the highlights of December came from the teachers themselves. Schools consistently shared that Food for Thought has helped students develop responsibility, teamwork, patience, and confidence through hands-on learning. Many also highlighted the project's role in strengthening school lunch programmes, generating additional income, and introducing students to skills in agriculture, entrepreneurship, and environmental stewardship.

As we look back on 2025, we're incredibly grateful to every student, teacher, and parent who has been part of the Food for Thought journey. Together, we've continued building school farms that not only provide food, but also create opportunities like practical learning and lasting benefits for years to come.
