Food for Thought report (June 2026)

Food for Thought Monthly Update
With the arrival of the rainy season, June marked a month of both progress and preparation across our 20 partner schools. While several schools celebrated successful mushroom, banana, and egg harvests, many others focused on planting new crops and reconstructing mushroom houses.
Together, schools cultivated 185.3 kg of produce, with 61.6 kg used to support student meals and 109.7 kg sold to generate ฿7,410 for reinvestment into their projects. Students also contributed an impressive 224 hours of hands-on work, like garden and mushroom house maintenance.
One standout this month was Kiew Lae Luang School (Chiang Mai), where students harvested both mushrooms and eggs, generating income that was reinvested into chicken feed and packaging materials to keep the project self-sustaining. Other schools, including Ban Punoi (Sam Roi Yot) and Ban Rongnam (Chiang Mai), also had strong mushroom harvests.
As with any agricultural project, June also brought its share of challenges. Some schools are still waiting for their first harvests, while others have been replanting after crop disease or preparing new mushroom substrate bags. These are all an important reminder that sustainable agriculture is a long-term process built on patience and adaptation.
Thank you to all the supporters who continue to make Food for Thought possible. We look forward to sharing the next stage of growth in the months ahead!
